Terms and responsibility
In short: Bordvenn helps you arrange dinners. We are not responsible for what happens when you meet, or for who you meet.
1. What Bordvenn is
Bordvenn is a digital platform where individuals can find, arrange and host dinners. We put users in touch with each other. We do not organise the dinners, are not present, and are not a party to any agreement between users.
By creating an account or using the service, you accept these terms.
2. Your own responsibility
You are responsible for who you meet, where you meet them and what happens during and after a meeting. Use common sense: consider meeting somewhere public first, tell someone where you are, and leave if anything feels wrong.
The host is responsible for their own home, the food, allergens, serving alcohol and complying with laws and regulations. Guests are responsible for their own behaviour and belongings.
3. Limited checks on users
We confirm your mobile number with a text code each time you log in, but this is not an identity check and is no guarantee of who someone is, or of their intentions, health or character. We do not carry out background checks.
4. Limitation of liability
Bordvenn is an intermediary of information. In line with sections 16–18 of the Norwegian E-Commerce Act, we are not liable for content posted by users, provided we are not aware that the content is unlawful.
We are not liable for personal injury, damage to property or financial loss arising in connection with meetings between users, unless the damage is caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence. This limitation applies to the extent permitted by Norwegian law and does not restrict any rights you have under mandatory law, including the Norwegian Damages Act and consumer protection rules. These terms are interpreted in light of section 36 of the Norwegian Contracts Act.
5. Code of conduct
Harassing, threatening or discriminating against others, impersonating someone else, selling services or using the platform for unlawful purposes is not allowed. We may close accounts that break these rules without notice.
If you experience anything criminal, contact the police on 02800 – or 112 in an emergency. Please let us know as well, so we can close the account.
6. Privacy
Your mobile number is stored privately and used only for your login text code. Stripe and Twilio are suppliers that help us run the app, handle payments and send text messages. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time. You can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
7. Age
You must be at least 18 to use Bordvenn.
8. Changes, governing law and disputes
We may change these terms; significant changes will be announced in the app. Norwegian law applies. We aim to resolve disputes amicably. Consumers can complain to the Norwegian Consumer Authority and the Consumer Disputes Commission. Otherwise, Oslo District Court is the agreed venue, unless mandatory law states otherwise.
